J. Brooks Big John: Fish Decoys Workshop

J. Brooks Big John is person of many talents. Brooks, by day, he is the Tribal Employment Rights Office Director (TERO)- and serves as an elected Member of the Lac du Flambeau Tribal Council. Past honors include Tribal Chairman, several terms as council member, Lac du Flambeau Education Director, Tribal Prosecutor, Tribal Administrator, Gaming Commissioner, and Adjunct Professor at an LDF community college.  He has served on several local, state, and national committees, commissions and boards, and is the LDF Youth Baseball Commissioner. In his spare time he coaches one of our local men’s softball teams. He loves to golf, carve, hunt, and fish.   He is a frequent guest speaker on numerous topics, such as the opioid epidemic, physical and mental health, youth wellness and also conducts workshops making fish decoys.

Fish Decoy Workshop: 2-hour Workshop: Participants in this workshop will each receive an unfinished wood fish decoy carved by Brooks for this workshop. Brooks will teach participants to carve scales, make fins, install eyes, add weights for submersion and paint the species. Maximum class size; 10
